Default Dividing Coryanthes

I finally got some baskets in. They’re 6” and will work for the whole plant but would do better for half the plant. This Cory has 11 bulbs including the most recent bulb that hasn’t quite matured but has nice leaves. Thinking of splitting along the line with 6 bulbs on the older half and 5 on the leading half. Thoughts?

The goal for here is to get equal parts AND new growths in both divisions. That way they can not miss a beat figuring out the new growing.

Nice plant. Those roots are tremendous

Yeah, I hear that. It’s only growing in one direction, though (to the right in this picture). I guess I’m curious if the back end (left side of the line) will start to produce new growth from the point of division. Another reason I’d like to divide it is that the new growths are really low and parallel with the surface of the media...I’d like to cant it up on that side if that makes sense. Yeah, it’s a rooty mother for sure!

If you have the space I would leave it together and find a bigger container.

🤔 I’ll likely do that.
