Different kinds of alcohol for sterilization.

I am hoping to do some seed flasking today (or at least start the process) but I don't have any isopropyl alcohol. I do have denatured alcohol (which is mostly ethanol but has around 5% methonol). Would that work just as well? Thanks!

it seems that methanol is one of the weakest sterilizing alcohol agents, so 5% may not be enough. do you have bleach? you would have to be careful with how much you use but that could potentially work as well.

Of course the other 95% is ethanol which should be pretty effective. I do have bleach and H2O2 as well as an ozone generator for fumigation.

household cleaning bleach releases chlorine gas, so you wouldn't want that to accumulate.

LOL I forgot about the 95% ethanol. Yes, that should most likely work (70% ethanol is already enough).
