Default Deflasked!

I bought two hobby flasks at the Show - one Sarcochilus and a Den cuthbertsonii (orange x red cross). I deflasked them yesterday.

I have put in some moist sphag to keep humidity up. This is sitting on my dining room table with a cloche over it.

Here are photos from today 24 hours after deflasking.

Wish me luck!

Very nice! The dining room table is a good idea. My wife is going to hate you!

The dining room table was chosen because it gets fairly bright (by our standards here!) indirect light, and also because it means that I can easily keep an eye on them.

So far I have not seen signs of them wilting or dehydrating...

Yes, the Den cuthbersonii is a tiny, tiny cool grower. I've got one mature plant that has done really well since I got it - just no flowers from it yet... still working on that!

There were 16 Sarcochilus in the flask, and 10 cuthbertsonii.

Oh lucky you!!
I've been wanting a Den cuthbertsonii for ages! And what's the Sarcochilus? I'll go crazy if you say it's Sarcochilus fitzgeraldii... I can't believe I missed the London show!

Camille, Its Sarcochilus ceciliae IOSPE PHOTOS - which I seem to like better. Depending on how many of the seedlings survive, if there are enough of them, I'd be happy to send you one!

Ross, its very early days yet! Keep your fingers crossed for me - this is my very first time trying this, so they could all end up in the great greenhouse in the sky!!

OK. Ten days later and all seems to be going well

No signs of wilting, or of mold or fungus or rot...

The humidity inside is still 85% or above - with the vents completely open.

I am thinking it is time to start taking the cover off completely for increasing lengths of time, starting at say, 1 hour each day.

Some of the Den. cuthbertsonii seedlings are already larger than the canes on my mature plant.

Some of the Sarcochilus have more roots than leaves!!

They're little cutsies! They seem to like you very much. And roots are good!! If they keep up the good growing maybe you can expect blooms much sooner.
