Help with spots and patches on my orchids
4 Attachment(s)
I posted previously about the yellow spots on my phalaenopsis, and initially wasn't too worried as it didn't seem to be spreading. But now I have noticed it slowly getting worse, and was wondering if this appears to an infection caused by bacteria/fungi or a virus or if it is something else.
In addition my paphiopedilum seedling has been getting clear/white sunken spots on its leaves and I want to know if I should cut away those areas, or just put some cinnamon as it appears to be spreading slowly. I isolated the phal and would like to know if I should do the same with the paph. I really hope that there is a way to fix them, so any input would be great. |
The first three really look like mechanical damage to me. The last looks like very early stage cold damage or an infection that’s taken hold because the plant is being kept too cold. In these types of situations, moving the plant to a warmer location has halted further damage for me although the discoloration tends to persist.
---------- Post added at 01:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:52 PM ---------- I wouldn’t do any cutting. Look at your temperatures first. For me, once I warmed the plants up, they were able to fight whatever had gotten started off on their own. At this stage, the plant usually keeps the leaf if conditions are corrected, but if it’s allowed to progress further mine typically drop the affected leaf. |
I’m pretty relieved to hear that. The phalaenopsis was moved to a different, warmer room so that works out well. I also applied cinnamon so I hope that fixes the issue if there is an infection.
