Paph. wardii and Paph. venustum 'album' 2018

A couple of Dec. bloomers that I didn't post right away. I'm a windowsill grower so stems grow toward the light as seen with the venustum.

Lovely orchids and nice photography! Mind if I ask, when you say you're a windowsill grower, what are your growing conditions as far as temps, humidity? Are you using supplemental light? I'm still trying to decide if Paphs are a good fit for me.

All my orchids are grown on bakers racks placed about a foot away from southwest facing windows. Yes, I know that is too much light for Paphs but they're the only decent exposure I have in my condo. When the angle of the sun starts to come directly into the window I lower light filtering shades (double walled cellular pleated). On overcast days the shades never get lowered (that would be most days in a Michigan winter). Obviously, no supplemental light is necessary. Winter temps vary from 58° to 70° days. Other times of the year the temp rarely gets above 78° because I can't stand the heat and humidity and turn on the AC. Generally, the humidity is around 45-50%. I use a large ultrasonic humidifier in the winter to keep the humidity up, but it requires twice/day fill-ups. Hope this helps. PM me if you have other questions I can help you with.

Our conditions are very similar but your plants are far superior. I will try harder. :bua::duh:

It helps to have 45+ years of experience. Keep on plugging and just learn what works best for you. One potting mix, one watering schedule, etc. doesn't work for everyone.

I like how crisp looking the green and white dorsals are.

Oh that venustum is lovely!! I keep seeing the album form for sale and passing it up because I love the normal color form so much. Won’t make that mistake again:lol:

the Paph wardii is so elegant, and what a nice big clump of fans in that pot!

I actually prefer the normal colored form myself. When I started this hobby 45+ years ago it was readily available and the alba form was hard to come by. Now the availability seems to have done a 180 with the alba form being readily available and the normal form harder to come by, especially one with good color and petals that don't reflex terribly.
