Cattleya aclandiae 'Exotic Jaguar' x self

The flower started opening 2 days ago and I just noticed the first hint of fragrance today. Fyi, there is no trick of perspective in the second picture. A substantial piece of the plant sits 2" away from a 120W LED panel running 3W emitters, albeit only driven at 2W. Still, these produce A LOT of light! Regardless of how long I try to acclimate them, Echeveria burn at anything less than 4" from these lights. All summer long my Echeveria sit next to the aclandiae where they can get the most unobstructed sunlight as possible. This one really likes light!

Wow, beautiful!

Echeveria are cloud forest plants. Many grow in "full sun" in habitat, but it's foggy or very cool. Some grow in dappled shade. Along the southern California coast, where they grow superbly, it is almost always breezy, and they suffer during warm, still parts of the summer. With a stiff breeze you could probably grow yours closer to the light.

Maybe and definitely worth a try. I did add a lot of air movement in my plant room this season. The results I spoke of were from last winter.

My second favorite cattleyas species. Nicely bloomed. Be careful with the LEDs though. The leaves tend to slowly bleach out under these lights....creeps up on you. That said I bet it can take allot of light so it is probably fine.

Nice! The fragrance is quite wonderful!
