trying to id this phal based on name
Hi guys, I bought this plant at my orchid club (Foothills Orchid Soc. of Calgary AB - wahoo, hi five!:bowing )
Although it is in spike, I have been trying to guess what the flower is like based on the cross names. This is a bit of an exercise I put myself through sometimes-i haven't spoke to the fellow i bought it from yet. The name is Phal. golden light f (could be of) prima X amboinensis. I suspect there will be a fragrance and likely a yellow with rust/red markings of some sort. As anyone seen a Phal. golden light f (could be of) prima? The leaves have a natural pronounced red to them. regards, m |
Phal. Golden Light is Phal. Prima x amboinensis. Therefore you have Phal. Golden Light. Maybe the "f" is a parenthesis? And yes, you should have fragrance; Phal. Prima is Phal Luedde-violacea x Phal. Princess Kaiulani, both fragrant hybrids. I tried to search for photos of your plant, with no success. Please share a photo when your plant blooms, this sound like a very interesting cross!

Have you tried a google image search? Any time i get an orchid out of bloom I just do an image search for it and I've always found at least one decent picture unless it's something really new.

Yes, I did try a google image search, with no success.
