New phals sold with plastic wrap..remove.?
 

Hello. We just received two new mini phals and they are in clay pots with the phal roots in an inner covering of plastic. Is this right? I would think that the roots could not breathe this way. I an very, very, very new to orchids, so..please forgive the question.

Should we remove the plastic ?

You are new to orchids but it seems you're thinking it right.:)
Roots need airflow...anything that's avoiding it is a problem to be solved.

A related comment, always want to make sure that clay pot has at least one drainage hole (more than one is even better),

Most of these come in sphagnum moss in a thin, transparent plastic liner, which is then slipped into something else. If you learn how to water with sphagnum moss you can leave them in the moss and plastic liner until the moss begins to break down.
