What do commercial orchid establishments do with adventitious seed pods?
 

The answer is:

Cut them off and straight to the compost pile.

If you want any, just ask them for some. If you are a regular customer (even if not), they are sure to oblige. It's just good PR.

They may however, try to discourage you.

If you are interested in trying to germinate the seeds, there is a cost free and effort free approach you might want to try which has a minimal chance of success but as I said is cost and effort free. It is called the symbiotic method and is what was used before the current flasking techniques. It does however require ripe pods in the process of splitting.
