Does anyone know how to pot a previously mounted dendrobium?

Hi all!

I have a mounted dendrobium nestor that I was looking to separate and transfer into pots. Is there any way of doing so safely?

Has anyone tried it?

Does anyone recommend it?

Thank you for the replies!

I had a small mounted Den. tortile mounted on a piece of tree fern. I put the whole thing into a deep pot and dribbled bark medium around it. The roots started to grow out into the medium, and when it was time to repot I used a jack knife to remove some of the tree fern--not really necessary but cosmetic. The plant is growing nicely and bloomed this year for the first time.
