Two Dendrobium Hibikis
 

I had a Dendrobium Hibiki (bracteosum x laevifolium), but yesterday I found another clone of Hibiki with much larger flower size. So I bought it instantly. :) As you can see in the picture, it is almost twice as big as the one I've been growing. Not only the flower size, but the pseudobulbs and leaves are much thicker and larger...bulbs are almost thick as my thumb!

I don't usually grow hybrids much, but this is one of my new favorites. :)

Hibiki is my favorite den...and in my top 3 of all my orchids. They are both lovely and like you...I would've grabbed up the 2nd.

My flowers are more magenta than either of yours...if I ever see the lighter pink color, I want it too.

Thanks. I'm also looking for getting a more darker fuchsia colored clone, but most Hibiki plant I see is either ordinary orchid-pink or light pale pink. ;)

I have multiple Dendrobium prenticei/Den. lichenastrum...different size/color flowers, different size or shape of pseudobulbs...I must collect all of them. :)

Do you mind my asking about the dark spots on the leaves of one of the hibiki's? I'm curious if this spread to other leaves, or resulted in the leaves eventually dying? If not, do you know what the spots are, or what caused them?

Asking because I started with one spot-inflicted dendrobium, and it has spread to all but 2 of them. So far nothing has stopped it in its tracks. I do have a tiny hibiki as well that seems fine so far! But mine is really tiny with one bloom.

I've had several orchid with fungal leaf spots. In my case, some of them were slowly spreading while some others rather appeared to be stand still. It looked ugly and weak but it did not seem to kill off the leaves though, just limped along with unsightly spots until the natural leaf-shedding occurred.

I used two systematic fungicides (Benomyl- and Metalaxyl- based), non-systematic fungicide (Mancozeb) and disinfectants (diluted hypochlorous acid (HOCl, diluted to about 4~50 ppm) and 5% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)) to control them from spreading.
First I sprayed benomyl, and after one week I sprayed metalaxyl, and after one week back to benomyl. And after a week, again metalaxyl. Then finally I treated them non-systematic fungicide monthly, and the spots appears not to be spreading anymore. Of course, for preventive measures occasionally spray diluted disinfectants around, just to be sure.

I realize that this is going to sound like a testimony for Ray, and maybe it is... I had a phal that got black spots, then the leaves yellowed and died. I asked a couple OB experts, who were stumped. I bought Inocucor from First Ray's, followed the instructions. It stinks to high heaven, but it saved my phal. You might give it a try.
