Hi. So here I am on vacation in Mexico and I find this plant that looks like an orchid. Is it and if it is what type?

It looks like something in the iris family to me.

It is in the Iris family. There are a lot of tropical American Iridaceae genera but I'm not very familiar with them. Look up Patersonia, Herbertia and Neomarica. That should get you started.

Looks like an Iris.
Check out the genus Trimezia.
