Is this Phal bellina or Samera? Need ID help
Hi all,
A while back I bought this plant as Phal bellina, and today I finally got it to bloom - except, well, the flowers don't look like standard bellina flowers. My first thought was shoot, this is Phal Samera because of the magenta color-bleeding on all petals. But then I remember there are clones of bellina (such as Phal bellina 'Red Apple') which has color bleeding too. Can you guys tell me if this is bellina or Samera? Is there some way to tell for sure (looking at the column or lip structure, I guess)? https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1816/...f1d9cb13_h.jpgBellina? by orchidreamer, on Flickr https://farm1.staticflickr.com/931/4...96a36d57_h.jpgBellina? by orchidreamer, on Flickr https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1778/...85baa257_h.jpgBellina? by orchidreamer, on Flickr |
I have a Samera and your flower does not look like the flowers on my Samera. I also have a bellina, but it’s a baby and hasn’t flowered yet. Not only is the color of my Samera different, but the petals have different shapes, Samera’s are more elongated. So my guess is bellina, but I am definitely not an expert.
