Catt tenebrosa - Repot now?

Hello, my friends

I have a new growth starting on my tenebrosa but there are no new roots.

Should I repot right now or wait for the roots to grow?

This palnt, like most of them in my hands, have their gorwth cycle messed up, I think.
I saw my report (I have a photographic archive of all the significant events, for each of my plants) and this plant did grow roots all year and new growths by late summer/autumn (and now, as I can see).

What do you think? I think it's better to wait for the roots.

Wait for new roots to be about 5cm (2 inches) long, then repot. This is especially true if your plant has a lot of dead or unhealthy roots. Particularly since it is already summer in the northern hemisphere.

You can technically repot Cattleyas or Laelias at any time during the year as long as it has healthy living roots. The key is not to damage them.

Well, that's something it doesn't have for sure.

Then no need to wait, repot now.

Consider a basket... it looks to me like this plant doesn't really like pots... or use a shallow pot and large bark try to minimize touching those new root tips (don't try to confine it) You could even just drop the whole thing, pot and all, into a basket or shallow pot, let the roots continue to go where they will.

Well, one month ago I bought a clay pot for it, wiyh ywice the volume than the actual. What do you think?

Sure. Any roots that are extending out horizontally, though, just leave them rather than trying to get them into the pot and possibly breaking them. If the new roots like the pot and medium, they will grow that way... if not they'll go all over the place. But there are plenty of good roots to sustain the plant until it decides what it wants to do.

I thought about a basket but decided to use the clay pot because this specie needs high humidity. In my 20 % HR summers a basket would dry really fast. The max I can achieve artificially is 60 %. This added to a clay pot seemed a better choice.

What about a wooden basket lined with sheet moss?
That's a handsome pot.

Even with less-than-ideal humidity, that looks like one happy plant.
