From the little that I know about Neos, colored blooms aren't naturally very frequent in the species, and many colored cultivars are the result of hybridization somewhere in the past (like Kibana). What is the 'source' of the color for this Neo?

Pure neo flowers will come in white, green, white with pink petal tips and spurs and paaaaaaaaaaale greenish-yellow. The lips on pure neos will always be white or only subtly pigmented as far as I have heard. Plants with dark colored lips are generally seen as hybrids.

Yellow flowers on pure neos are always pale and the flowers open at the darkest color then gradually fade as the flower ages. Here's what a yellow flower on a pure Neo will usually look like:

Neos with solid yellow flowers and dark yellow flowers are all backcrossed hybrids. These flowers have the habit of opening near white and then gradually developing its yellow color over the course of a few days after blooming.

Unfortunately, precise genetic background of hybrids is not considered particularly important among most Neo growers and breeders in Japan and Korea so most records of what plants were used to create these crosses have been lost.

It should be noted though that even if we did know the exact parentage and the process used to breed it, the chances of finding another plant like Myeongwol would be infinitesimal, making the likelihood of recreating it close to zero.

That said, the breeder this originaly came from does not know what the parentage of the variety is. But we can certainly take educated guesses.

I suspect that the red splashes were given by a Rhynchostylis in the background somewhere. The yellow color by an Ascocentrum. The rest of the plant has similar characteristics to the Neo variety, Raizan, so I suspect Raizan was one of its two most recent parents.
