Cattleya aclandiae - how often does it bloom for you?
Hi,
I've been growing a Cattleya aclandiae for about a year, and it's now working on its third flush of new growths since I received it in bloom. This round is the first to include flowers since the original ones faded. The question for people who grow this plant: Does yours typically flower on every new growth (multiple times a year), or is it more seasonal, like once a year? I repotted four months ago, but light and fertilizer haven't changed over the course of the year. There's always too many variables to try to decide what's up, hahaha. |
Yes, this one typically blooms on every new growth. I used to get 2-3 successive new growths/new blooms when I grew this one in Hawaii.
Your recent repotting probably knocked it off schedule. |
I was surprised to find the first flush post-reporting was also the first to include flowers, though.

I have what seems to be a aclandiae hybrid and it has a 2 new growths per year, all of them producing flowers.
You may find these tables a useful resource. Cattleya blooming and rooting table - Sorted by species name. |
Haha I’m very fond of that chart. It’s a great tool for remembering when various Cattleyas will need to be reported.

Enjoy the blooms! I really love the fragrance. :)

Thanks! I definitely remember its smell being something that attracted me to it, but after a year I can’t remember what the smell was like. Just a few more days!
