Cattleya nobilior var. amaliae- Spike progression

Cattleya nobilior var amaliae spike progression. Seems like these types of images from this species are tough to find online. Notice the pointed spike on the left that becomes rounder (middle) and finally the buds emerge (right).

Looks great! Have you bloomed this one before?

Plus, you've got two spikes, three buds, AND a ladybug! :D:D

Can you do a similar nobilior spike sequence on the spike in the background? Feel free to add it to this thread so the interwebs can finally get a good series of spike pics for this species.

Yes, I got the plant in spike 2 years ago and it rebloomed last year. There's also a third spike starting on the other side of the plant, out of this pic. I will try to get a series of decent pics as things progress.

Great, as I have never bloomed one like this.

For sure a very nice flowering in a couple of days ! Is it a bi or a mono foliage? Can you show us a picture of the foliage at the top of a pseudo-bulb. Thank you in advance.

Nobilior has two leaves, though most people don't consider it part of the bifoliate group.

Update: Here is the current spike. Notice how shriveled the bulb have gotten. They'll get much smaller soon and the leaves will wrinkle. This species is perfectly adapted for such conditions and will bounce back much like Catasetums. Francisco Miranda says these plants only bloom under harsh conditions.

These types of pictures are hard to find indeed. Thank you for sharing! I bought a very cheap Catt. Walkeriana cutting that had water damage to its newest pseudobulb and last spike-growth. The spike died before I bought it, but the bulb it left behind looks healthy. It's almost impossible to find pictures of what new growths and spikes should look like for these cattleyas.
