CalMag

Anyone using MSU but at the same time supplement with CalMag on their orchids?

If you are using the MSU RO formula (13-3-15-8Ca-2Mg), in my opinion, it's not necessary to supplement it further. If your interest is magnesium, use Epsom Salt.

Yes. I use it maybe once a month. I did use epsom salts as Ray suggested initially, for I hoped a quick jolt, then I switched to calmag. Frankly, I don't see a difference on anything except my phals. I put egg shells in with my Catts.

There is something about my water which binds up the mag over time.

Thanks for your reply, Ray.

Just curious Ray. If the MSU for well water is used, would cal-mag be necessary?

I would say that since the well water version has no magnesium (does have calcium), the necessity of adding cal-mag or epsom salts would depend on the quality of your tap/well water.

Good to know. I use epsom salts because I noticed the blotching in my leaves several months back. There's visible Improvement in any new growth. Thanks for the info!
