Rhododendron 'Alisa Nicole'

Hi all,
I have had this plant for 5-6 years. About 4 years ago I stuck a cutting of it in my terrarium. I'm glad that I did as it is the only environment where I can get it to grow. It has been flowering for me lately, this would be the 4th time in the last 365 days or so, but the first for the calendar year. I love the pendant bell shaped blooms. I have posted this one before, but for those not in the know, this is a tropical Rhododendron. It is only 2 feet in length at right now, and I can keep it smaller if I wish. The more you prune, the bushier it gets and the more flowers it makes. These tropical Rhodies are called Vireyas. These are cell phone pics because they are not accesible to my dslr camera |
I think this Rhododendron is so cool as it is small enough for your terrarium and absolutely beautiful when flowering. I’ve admired it previously in your posts. I’m happy to see it continues to grow and flower for you, thanks for posting.

I'm wondering that too, but I have never tried Bonsai. I just keep trimming whenever I see a single growth at an end node. Then that promotes the formation of two growths from the same spot, like a hydra. |
