Seems I never posted a pic when the first blooms popped open...so here's a pic of an awesome plant with 6 spikes in heavy bloom

Very nice! What light does it get? Is that one of those reservoir pots?

I like! Nice growing, Susanne.

Thanks :)

No special pot for this one...just a big one ;)

It's in a 12" flower pot planted in regular potting soil with some extra perlite and charcoal added.

Great growing.

:oops_sign Sorry Royal...I forgot to answer the other part of your question :blushing:

I grow mine in a pretty shaded area, it gets some very filtered late afternoon sun but it's not a lot.

From what I've read, these plants do best in shade but are known to grow in brighter lighting too.

If you have the room, Phaius is a really nice plant to have in your collection :)

This species is also native to Taiwan where they can be found on the fringes of woods or sometimes hide themselves in weeds. For the latter group, the weeds protect them from over sun exposure.
In real cultivation, some people would prefer growing their plants in shaded areas where the light level is also suitable for phalaenopsis.

I just repotted mine since the flower spikes aborted for some reason. Here it is last year:
