Masdevallia with tiny white dots on a leaf.
1 Attachment(s)
I just noticed this morning these strange little white flakes on my Masd. Pixie Shadow. They don't feel raised to the touch even though the leaves naturally have a waxy feel to me. some of theleaves around it have a random speck or so but it's mainly just the one. Anybody have an ideas?

The photo is out of focus. I can't tell what they are. There are scale insects that infest orchids. They look like tiny white flakes and adhere tightly to the leaf.

Guesses on tiny white dots
I can't tell either from the picture. But if it's scale or mealy bugs, you can wipe with a Q-tip dipped in alcohol, and they come right off. Then rinse off where you've treated with water.
If it's mineral deposits from hard water, some use soft cloth and wipe leaves with milk or mayo, then rinse. If it's white mold, you'll likely also see it on the top of potting media. That's a fungus. Treat according to your preference. A sharper picture "might" help. But the above should give you a start. |
