Hello All

Can someone identify this plant. Grows great, too good, in a terrarium. But i have no idea what it is or where i got it. Hasn't bloomed. Loves water. TIA

John

I don't know what it is. With that kind of leaf venation, the leaves arranged in a spiral rather than opposed pairs or in triplets, and the fact it's easy to grow in a moist area, I think of something in the Onagraceae or evening primrose family. Look up different species of Ludwigia.

Thanks Estacion for the reply. Will check out the Ludwigia.

My first thought was also Ludwigia.

Reminds me of Ajuga ... perhaps Ajuga Chocolate Chip -- commonly sold as a perennial ground cover. Also know as bugleweed as it can be very invasive.

Well, if it is Ajuga, it should have square stems. Roll it between your fingers to find out. If it does, then it is certainly in the mint family.

Ajuga flowers so readily. This plant should have flowered by now if it were that.

I'm thinking you're right, it's ajuga, and it would have to be 'Chocolate Chip.'

Not necessarily. A friend of mine has this in heavy shade at his place and it rarely flowers. Don't know if insufficient light or other factors could prevent Ajuga from flowering .... if that is what it is.

@Tindo: Didn't know it was a member of the mint family.
Would explain its invasive tendencies.

Ditto Paul on the flowering. Remember, light inside, especially artificial, is way different from being outdoors. It might have insufficient light to flower and it would also account for the rosettes not being as tight as what is seen outside. However, it won't slow it down.
