Just visited Tampa Bay Orchid Show
This was my first official show! What a fantastic visit it was. I didn't understand the process of showing the orchid winners - they were grouped like a presentation which made differentiating them difficult. However, the vendors quality and selection was tremendous and I spent too much. Now, I must learn about all the different genera. It is confusing as I am a begonia grower and our nomenclature is straight up. Perhaps someone can suggest an easy source to understand the genera? I mean, orchid hybrids have like 5 names! Anyway, it is March in Tampa Bay and orchids have been thriving and blooming...so easy to grow. I grow outdoors in shadehouses without plastic, and despite about a dozen nights in the 30's - they thrive! Greg in New Port Richey....also plans on attending the Spring Hill FL show in a few weeks:drool:
