Plant mail!
3 Attachment(s)
With the weather lately in the northeast, the idea of shipping orchids has been a bit crazy, but this brief warm up provided an opportunity to thread the needle, so I took the chance and it paid off. 24 hours ago the temp was 60°F, but currently it's 20°F, the wind is howling and it's snowing. But the box arrived yesterday! First two pics are a delightful mini I bought for its fragrance, Brachypeza semiteretifolia. A close look at #2 shows some old spikes and a new one starting. Third pic is Habenaria myriotricha, aka medusae

Great looking little Brachypeza semiteretifolia and soon to flower! The weather has been a bit crazy, the brief warmup was short lived, it’s snowing here this morning too and windy. I’m ready for spring!
I purchased a Neo from Satomi’s eBay store and had her hold shipping until the warmup. It just arrived on Thursday, safe and warm. Winter shipping is usually too iffy for me. It was 64 here yesterday! Have you grown Habenaria myriotricha before? I hope you will post pictures of the blooms on the Brachypeza. |
Good to have a warm-up. I have been wanting to order some neo, but the weather has been terrible. How long does it take the Habenaria myriotricha tuber to grow and flower. Post a picture when it does.
|
I haven't grown either of these before. From what I gather the Habenaria shouldn't do much of anything until March or April, but if it flowers I'll definitely post it.
|
Good luck with both! I took advantage of the respite from winters cold, too, and did an order. It arrived Friday, just before the temperatures began to drop.
|
I'm not ordering nor sending anything out for awhile. Good luck with your plant mail.
