Cymb hybrid identification - Cool or warm grower?
 

I've found this one but I don't know if it's a cool or wram grower.
If it's cool, I have space for one orchid more. If not.... I might have or not.:biggrin:

This is a small plant (comparing with my other cymbs).

Any info based on the photo?

The warm growing ones tend to have small (golf ball or smaller) pseudobulbs, with the ones with bigger bulbs being cool growing. I don't know if that's a definite way to tell, but maybe it will help.

I also think that the cool growing ones tend to have bigger, rounder flowers. The flower on yours makes me think it is warm growing, but it would be easier to tell if we could see the whole plant.

Without a name on your plant, it is almost impossible to tell if it is warm or cool growing. The shape of the flower has nothing to do its temperature likes.

Can you back off your camera and show a photo of the entire plant? Are the leaves narrow? It looks to be an erythraeum or even a tracyanum hybrid but the leaves would help. This would be a cool grower if so.

I haven't taken a photo of the plant but comparing with my cymbs (I haven't bought this one... yet:biggrin:) the leaves are narrow.

Who is selling this plant? If they are a reputable grower/distributor they should be able to tell you if it is warmth tolerant or cool growing. If not, buy something else, somewhere else! It is most probably a hybrid and apparently has no name, another reason to walk away from it if true. The flowers are interesting but definitely not well presented on top of each other.

It is hard to tell, but it looks like there is come Cym traceyanum in the background. That species is a cool grower, though it might be suppressed by whatever it has been hybridized with.

The narrow leaves say there may be erythraeum in the parentage. Tracyanum is definitely cool growing but does. not have narrow leaves. Erythraeum also is cool growing. The photo just does not show enough of the flower from the frontal direction to make any guess as to ancestry.

Unfortunately the store doesn't have them anymore. They returned them to the vendor or sold them all.

The grapes were probably sour, anyway.
