any epi people out there?
hey i was wondering if anyone here has epidendrum care tips? i had a bunch i started from kekkis on adult plants-some are the tall orange flower type and the other is the stout purple-flower type
i put the pieces in clay balls/bark and kept them out in full sun until early September over time they have taken to just randomly dying on me i have 1 purple left and 2 oranges left-i started with 6 of each also, 1 orange guy keeps shedding its roots any ideas?? |
You're probably not watering nearly enough. The clay balls dry out rapidly. New keikiis don't have many roots. Bigger plants can take full sun, but not small plants just starting out.

I have mine in more of a bark mix. The bitties need more pampering but, the big guys can stand some abuse. I water maybe once a week by weight and they are under LEDs. For radicans, I withhold water in late winter to spur bloom. They do respond well to feeding.

explains why most of the death occurred when they weren't outside getting rained on constantly
