Seeking suggestions for plant trays for wire racks
Hi guys,
I'm trying to shorten the time and effort required for watering. I have 2 6' racks commonly seen at Lowes/etc that have the roughly 48" x 16" wire shelves. I'm looking for a solution for multiple trays that will fit on these rack shelves so I can remove groupings of several plants at a time to water them. Plus this will serve to group like minded plants together based on size, lighting rqmts etc. Anyone have any ready-made suggestions for trays that would fit for this application? Thanks in advance! Cafeteria lunch trays (restaurant supplies). If you want deeper, plastic catering serving trays (party supplies).
ETA: If you use heat-mats, baking sheets |
wintergirl made a detailed post some time ago about her trays (from Amazon I believe.) I seem to recall she uses winter shoe trays. katrina has also shown her light shelf setup and talked about the trays she uses.
If you use the Search function, Advanced, look for posts by katrina and wintergirl using search words like rack, Amazon, shelf, shoe. |
I use standard nursery trays from Grower's Supply, a wholesale-only distributor, but I can order them for you.
They are available in various sizes, in green, beige, and white. |
Thanks guys, I jumped the gun and ordered a 6 pack of cafeteria trays in 12" x 16".
Amazon.com | New Star 28010 Fast Food Tray, 12 by 16-Inch, Assorted 6 Colors in Each: Serving Trays I am going to transition to semi-hydro, so now that I see Ray's suggestion - that makes more sense to me to use what you recommend, Ray. I'll get back to you on your offer. Thanks everyone! -Jack |
