I have had this phalaenopsis for several years. I cannot remember where I got it. It just is the oddest one that I have. Its leaves are very long and dark, and sort of twisty. I've attached some pics.

Leaf differences like that are sort-of like tall people and short ones - still people, just different genetics. Another analogy would be the sister who has straight blonde hair and other with curly black hair.

Yes, a phal. Not possible to ID further.

Thank you Ray.

Yeah, it's a Phal, and Ray's comments are spot on. It looks like it has a quite hardy basal keiki?

Wow it's so big and healthy! You'd think it would of bloomed for you already. :(

Actually it has bloomed probably two or three years ago and I don't really remember exactly what the flower look like that was back in a period of my life where I wasn't paying a lot of attention. And no it does not have a basal keiki. It's just growing so oddly the lower leaves. I do have a phal that does have a basal keiki and two spikes.

Dollythehun 10-10-2017 05:16 PM

You could have fooled me. It looks like two plants...

greenpassion 10-10-2017 06:40 PM

Yeah I know. I don't know why it has been so Twisted looking but it really seriously is one stem. That's why I asked if it was actually a phalaenopsis because it looks so weird.

dounoharm 10-10-2017 07:52 PM

yes, it is rather twisty....and a leggy long stem....the leaves out the bottom part make it look like a keiki.....

I wish I could remember what the flower looked like. It's also different in that my other phals bloom regularly every year, sometimes twice if they rebloom on an old spike, but this one hasn't. It's been right with all the others right along, in bark, etc. It's leaves are a darker shade as well. As it's a NOID, I'm wondering if it needs stronger light? Or maybe it's just a genetic mutation...I'll wait and see. It IS super healthy that's for sure.
