Paph. malipoense - a bud appears!

A bud began to emerge. It will grow into an impressive 50 cm long tall flower spike--very thin, yet very tough, almost like a long steel skewer! The inflorescence of Paphiopedilum malipoense suppose to take several months to fully develop, so the actual flowering would be early next year. (It had previously bloomed around late February) |
:banana::banana::bananaslide: Hurrah for spikes! But I always find it very difficult to be patient with such slow growing spikes.

Yes, they can take a very, very, very, very, very, very long time to develop. Several months to develop would make it the cheeta of malipoense clones.
Congrats, it's certainly one of my favorite species. |

I have one a little further developed - it's about 28 cm tall at this point.
