Laelia alaorii
I can't take full credit for this bloom - the growth was already mostly matured when I received it from Andy's.
That said, third times a charm. This is the third of this species I have bought and the only one to bloom. The one from Gold Country grows and grows - typically 4 new leads at a time but no blooms despite growing along side a few purples rupicolous Laelias. The one from SBOE is not as robust but grows steadily, still no blooms. This one has rewarded my patience and love!. I don't know why, but I fell in love with L. alaorii the very first time I saw a picture of one and HAD to have it! I think that if I had to pick one favorite species, this would be it. http://i.imgur.com/7Qd1H6U.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/c2Gyodp.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/EKFTcLc.jpg |
Beautiful flower. This is in full bloom although it looks like its never fully opened that why it is hard to use it for hybrid purposes. Andy's is a reputable grower and some of my orchids came from them.

I love it!

Another cute bloom. This must be the time for this one to bloom.

Lovely. Mine from Andy just finished a bloom. Also on a stick that he said came from a larger awarded plant.
