Phal. equestris "Hillbrook"

The first blossom opens for me to help dispel the winter doldrums. The picture is an extreme close-up. The actual blossom is slightly smaller than a U.S. quarter.

Very nice indeed, Al! Always helps to cheer us up, doesn't it? I have a P. Equestris x Princess Midas that I have yet to see open. Very excited to see what it will look like...especially after viewing yours. It should have some of those pretty qualities! ???? I love surprises!

Very nice. Nice closeup too. I try doing that and it will come out blurry.
Nice color.

Hi Dorothy,
The label says "lavender"......in the sun light it is but my camera couldn't handle that bright light, or more likely my photo expertise is sorely lacking and I couldn't find a setting that worked.:hmm So, to answer your question it is pale.
I thought you got one of these at about the same time.

TIN........I'd hate to tell you how many shots it took to get that close up!!

I have an Phal equestris 'River Bend' x 'Zuma Beach' (my avatar)(it's finally beginning to rebloom from it's spike :cheer: ) and a Phal equestris 'Gino' - peloric form and Phal Linda Cheok which has Phal equestris var. alba as one of it's parents ..

Great equestris, Al

They are by far my favorite Phal

I have this same one in bud right now, it'll be the first time blooming for me. Got it as a keiki at Redlands in 2005.

Thanks for sharing :)

What a beauty! I agree regarding form - it's outstanding! Where do y'all find these equestris cultivars? I always just see the plain old equestris listed under catalogues...:(

Seek and ye shall find .. :coverlaugh:
I purchased my off of eBay and they are healthy and hardy little plants .. Check out Baldan's Orchids on eBay .. they auction small amounts of orchids .. mostly phals .. every week ..

Ah, it's the "River Bend" x "Zuma Beach" and the peloric "Gino" that we got about the same time. I, have P. equestris var. alba but just got it last month(or was it Jan.?? )from the Cape Cod Orchid Soc. Show) and it's doing very well. I expect a spike anytime. Hmmmmm, do I see a common inerest?:hmm
