Hello,

Sorry, I am a beginner. I saw this at my local Trader Joe's. Does anybody know what kind of orchid this is? Thank you very much.

It's a Miltoniopsis. Without an an ID tag, that's as close as you'll get since there's so many hybrids.

:hello A beauty but make sure you read about its culture. I find them challenging for my conditions. Read posts on Orchid Board. When all of it has sunk in and your head isn't spinning, google more info. :goodluck::waving

yes I got one and no way can I keep it cool enough. it is a poor choice really I don't think most people that buy them will keep them healthy. Now I got a great sweet sixteen from them (sharry baby baby) and it smelled great for a couple weeks.

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

This kind of plant cannot tolerate any heat. TJ sells a lot of other orchids that are fairly easy to grow in homes.

Orchid Board has many forums with threads on different kinds of orchids. Choose Forums in the left menu, then scroll down and look for:
Cypripedium Alliance - Paphiopedilum
Oncidium/Odontoglossum Alliance

Miltoniopsis are in the Oncidium alliance, but many other hybrids in this alliance are easy home growers.

TJ also sells Phalaenopsis, the moth orchids. Many people find them easy to grow, but they rot with too much water. You can read about growing them here:
The Phal abuse ends here.

Welcome! You'll never know for sure without a tag, but I bought one last summer at my local Kroger. It looks just like yours and was tagged: Milt. Red Woodham. I keep it indoors in a shaded east window, has about the same light required for an African violet. Roots like to stay moist. It has rewarded me with 4 bloom spikes this season, each with 4 blooms.

Thanks.
