LC Tropical Pointer 'Cheetah' HCC/AOS
 

Very fragrant flowers, which is strange because my first clone, an exact same clone, had zero scent.

For the first two three weeks, the flowers look like the first photo, then they turn yellow.
Beautiful in both shades.

My first clone never turned yellow like this, either.
Again, strange.

This is one of the few complex hybrids allowed in my collection. This clone grows like a weed and is blooming most of the time. I've noticed the flowers will also change color depending on light.

This cross has some pretty amazing variability from bloom to bloom. The image on the left is a flower grown under bright sunlight. The image on the right a flower grown under bright artificial light. Big difference on the same plant!

Mine bloomed for the first time last year. Attractive but zero scent. I have had other orchids that have had zero scent for 30 years, suddenly fragrant, sometimes once only (and nothing else blooming nearby to confuse the scent issue). Maybe my TP'C' will be fragrant in the future?

I have one of these in my office and they bloom in late summer for me. Very strong fragrance! I love this orchid, it is an easy grower and puts out three to four new bulbs every season. I could never get this one to flower at home, but it loves my office window sill.

I guess the complex genetic make up might be causing all kinds of odd characteristics?

My first plant of this same mericlone, which I grew by the south window, very bright, had very pale nearly white background the whole time it was in bloom.

Your first photo really is different. The color and the amount of spots is very low.
I prefer the look on the right, which is what I was fist drawn to this hybrid.

I'm just happy this one is fragrant and a willing bloomer.
My older one also had another problem of not wanting to flower, ever again. It did grow like wild fire though. just never flowered again.

Maybe, who knows? only time will tell.
From what I heard, even these mericloned plants are not necessarily exact same duplicate every single time, so that might explain the lack of scent.

My first one had zero scent. I sniffed on it different time of the day. Zero scent.

This second guy, well, it did take a few days for the scent to kick in, but once it did, it was on from morning till well into the afternoon like 4, 5 pm.
and very strongly so!

The thing is this plant looks strange with some irregular undefined random chlorotic area on some of the leaves.
I often see issues on the Cattleya leaves, which keeps me away from growing them.
I want clean plants!

I plan on repotting this guy as the newer growths and roots are walking all over the place out of the pot now.

Might send a sample to a lab for virus testing just for peace of mind.

It is a strong grower. needs good light to flower well I would think as is the case for basically all Cattleya group.

I agree! I was a bit shocked to see the darker bloom and prefer the spotted version. Either way, this is a really great hybrid that should be in any Cattleya collection. Its hard to find a flatter flower!
