First, I want to thank you all for being such a great community - when I first got my Monnierara last year, I was freaking out over everything it did and with some advice, it's actually growing TWO spikes. Holy cow.

I'm still trying to expand a little - I want to use my other window in the bedroom but my boyfriend is protective of his blackout shades... :evil: Hopefully, will convince *cough* force him to give up the space.

I just got the Cymbidium on the right TODAY. It's looking a little sad from being in a box with it's brown bulb. It is a Koushu Fire (Yamanashi Fire x Street Tango). Baby Cym. - I am very excited to see the new blooms in a couple years.

The two NOID phals have been in bloom for a month already - growing new buds! My tetraspis unfortunately has bud blasted all the way through except two flowers, one white & one red... I repotted it in lava rock and bark. The original material was a bit compacted. Fingers crossed for next year. Chibae is all done with its blooms.

I'm a name-brand snob so the neo kick is really speaking to me. :) More to come, I'm sure.

(Yes that is an avocado in a neo pot - I find they ripen very well in there :rofl:)

Nice collection you have and beautiful blooms! It seems we are forever expanding, I know I have. If you get into miniatures you will be able to have many more! You can get very creative with grow space. This forum has so many helpful growers and many threads to give you ideas for expanding spaces.

I'm a recent Neo nut myself and thoroughly enjoy them and they really don't take up a lot of space. You have room there in your window for a few Neos! As much as I like avocados, I would have a Neo in that pot.

That's very nice! For those of us who are limited to only small collections, we're fortunate when we have multiple plants in bloom at the same time. :)

I had that problem... Now I don't :rofl:

In all serious though, there are work-arounds. You can set it up so that either the curtains go between the plants and the window at night or around the plants. Unless he just wants it dark all the time... and then it does not compute!

Also... remember, you can go vertical.

Great for All Plants, Seedlings or Figurines, Grow a Lush Vertical Indoor Garden : Patio, Lawn & Garden and the work pretty well despite being pricey. I do not recommend the smaller version. I have had a lot of problems with the small ones staying in place and have had to use packing tape. The big ones have not been problems.

Thanks for the recommendation! I am a bit hesitant to get this because the cheap target suction basket in my bathroom ALWAYS falls off. If this is quite strong (and I can't convince my boyfriend to let me move some space around our small bedroom), then I might try this first. There's always vertical space to go - the bedroom will be the final frontier so lucky him, he gets to keep it for now. Haha He sleeps in VERY late into the afternoon on the weekends as he is a news cameraman, his weekends are all about recovery and doesn't like any light while he is being a vampire until after noon :roll:, losing my precious soft morning light.

It's a bit weak but I hope the long hours it stays on will be enough for the orchids here... It's a bit large but we're making space.

A very nice collection. I have 6 orchids right now that are in my south-west bay window. My collection consists of 2 Cymbidiums, a Stanhopea wendii, a Lycaste aromatica, a Phal and an Encyclia radicans. Except for the Cymbidiums, I have bought the other orchids from E-bay sellers since April. I am working on increasing my collection since my GH heater failed last January and I lost 49 orchids. The 2 Cymbidiums came from a plant I received in 1991 so I have had orchids for 27 years.
