My Birthday Mini-Phal.~Pal

Brought into my worksite and placed on/to the side of a frosted window pane 8 days ago (after a solid 5 months of blooms at home) to reestablish.

This little plant started dropping leaves when I picked it up to check it for watering.

It also seemed to have yellowing near the stem bottoms and when the orchid was turned over these markings were visible, a sunburn perhaps?

Beside it all, now that I have trimmed off the two spikes that had held all of that wonderful color I can see that the medium should be changed so I will bring her home to care for. Any advice appreciated.

Wow, Charles...I do not have a clue...let's see what the experts say. Sad, though.

I think your plant has some sort of fungal/bacterial infection which has attacked the stem. Treat it immediately with Physan and hope for the best. In this condition, I'm sorry to say, they tend to go downhill pretty fast.

Maybe roots rot? Does the decorative pot have any drain hole?

Not a drainage pot but only use it to steady plant, never leave any moisture remain standing in there while drying out and always allow airing out when allowable.

The roots looked very soggy and poor when I repotted, the medium was very broken down & held lots of spaghum along with it, I never checked this while it was blooming because this had been a very unique experience for me.

What is the temperature there? (How cold is your workspace?) That doesn't look like sunburn at all. I might guess it's a lot cooler day and night than it was at your house, and it stays wet too long in the cooler environment.

Goodbye my friend, you were the longest bloomer so far.
Maybe you tried too hard for me :_(

I'm so sorry.
