masdie spike
so...my masd. floribunda has put out a little flower spike, but i'm wondering if it's actually going to bloom. the end of it has what looks like a little dry sheath. is this typical? or perhaps something stressed it and will keep it from blooming? :_(

Any pictures? These plants are touchy, but sometimes are tougher than you expect.

will Masdie's spike bloom?
Ok...again not the best photo in the world...and his one ugly leaf seems to steal the spotlight. :dumb:

Well from here it does look like a failed spike. Be on the look out for more spikes on the way. It could happen. Do not be discouraged, at least its making spikes.

I have had this happen countless times with my Masdies. Never really figured it out, as I couldn't isolate any specific environmental changes. However, I will add that unless it starts to wither back completely, leave it, as occassionally a new flower will form on an old spike. (Even on the ones that are specifically 'multiflora'...) I agree with Tin, keep an eye out for other spikes starting!
