orchids on a plane?
Hey guys... I have an unusual question for you :P
Im planning on moving to japan for a year to work. I know that I wont be able to take all my orchids with me, but I was wondering if there was a way to take four of the smallest ones I have? Two tiny oncidiums and two tolumnias. They are growing in clay medium, but i could pack them bare rooted. I was just wondering if any of you guys have taken orchids with you outside of Europe? Would I be able to just wrap them up and put them in my luggage or would I need to arrive early to put them through quarantine? I have to water my tolumnias every day and I feel like my father would forget (he will be caring for my other orchids) Thanks and sorry if Im posting this in the wrong section, it is an unusual situation hah. |
Phone and find out if there are any import restrictions on the out AND the return trip.
Apart from that I can't see why not.... |
You will find plenty of orchids in Japan. I think you might reconsider these plans as their are Cities regulations and such to control importing plant material into many foreign countries. They would be in quarantine and have to be shipped bare root to prevent pests and diseases coming into the country.
