Orchid Identification - How to?
4 Attachment(s)
Hi, I found this plant that came from an office and put it in my bay window with good afternoon sun and started to water it. A couple days ago it began to open up.
Pretty sure it's an Orchid, but not sure of a name or identification, how can I find out? Thanks, Burken63 PS: 1st attempt uploading / attaching pictures, hope it works! Attachment 125554 Attachment 125555 Attachment 125556 |
You are correct. That is a Phalanopsis hybrid. On the left hand side of the screen you will see "forums" go to the Phalanopsis section and at the top you will see a "sticky" with care instructions. And, welcome!

that is a phalaenopsis. You can watch Missorchidgirl's tutorial on youtube on how to care for them :)

Welcome to the Orchid Board! That is a beautiful flower.
We also have a sticky thread here dealing with Phalaenopsis care: The Phal abuse ends here. And here is one way to tell whether the medium is still damp in the center of the pot: Using skewers to determine when to water |
As others have pointed out, yours is a Phalaenopsis hybrid. It can't likely be identified further. Phals are among the easiest orchids to grow while being extremely rewarding with their blooms. Good luck!
