Miniature Phalaenopsis Leaf with a black strip on edge

Hi everyone, I am new to growing orchids. I bought this miniature Phalaenopsis from Trader Joe's about two weeks ago. I realized that the edge of a top leaf slowly turns into black as shown in the picture. I have not water it until today and the roots seem to be healthy and green. Does anyone have an idea what is wrong with my plant and what should I do? Thanks!

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

The leaf likely brushed against a paper bag, or something else, and had a little mechanical damage. It is nothing to worry about.

Phals like yours, in sphagnum moss, need to get almost dry between waterings. The roots turn white when dry. Yours are still green, so it doesn't need watering right now. Some people would repot now, but if you are careful not to water too much, it will be fine in that moss until the moss starts to break down.

Here are two good threads to read on growing Phalaenopsis:

Using skewers to determine when to water

The Phal abuse ends here.

Thank you so much, Estacion seca! I am glad to hear that my plant is not getting sick or virus. The moss was dry before I watered it this morning (didn't water it for two weeks since I bought it). I really want to repot it but a should I repot it even when it is still blooming?

Phalaenopsis don't seem to mind repotting at any stage of growth. It normally doesn't affect the blooming. Other orchids are not so forgiving.

Welcome to the board. Me I always wait. I cut slits in these kind of pots, making sure not to cut a root so they can get more air.
