"stem" u referring to the place where all the leafs join or the stem as in where all the flowers bloom off of?

:blushing: the..spike i think its called, where the nubs and flowers come of of...

The red coloring is from the increase of light. It turns red to protect itself from burning. It is a good indication that your plant is recieving adequate light.

ya i agree, but definitely be careful though, not all orchids are able to a 'tan' to protect itself. only a few phals and some cattleya can

A lot of epis do the same thing. My schoenorchis fragrans will also get a reddish tinge along the leaf edges in good light. Not to worry, imo.
