Dendrobium loddigesii, when to stop winter rest?
 

With winter coming to an early (and somewhat unfair) close, I have begun to watch my dendrobium loddigesii pretty closely. I noticed little nubs (I assume buds or possibly keikis) along the canes today. Is it time to begin full watering now? It looks awfully dry as is....

If it's going to be above freezing at night, put it outside. Let it get rain. At the Huntington Botanical Gardens in Los Angeles they leave theirs that are for sale out in the sale lath house all winter. They don't get frost, but they get close, and they get the winter rain.

If it's not freezing I would put it outside, if you have a place to do that. Bright but dappled shade. I wouldn't let a little tiny thing like this go all winter without any water. This is just a guess, but maybe warm water and warm weather leads to growth, and cold weather plus cold water leads to flower buds.

Oof. If that's the case, I'm doomed to never have buds! Memphis is notoriously warm/hot. I'll see what I can do though
