A few Phals in bloom

Yesterday was my day off, and with the OB also taking a day off I found myself with a lot of time on my hands. Once laundry and yardwork were finished I used my online time to take some photos of current bloomers at the house. Though I grow mostly species, most of what's blooming now are hybrids.

This NoID mini is a rebloom. It originally bloomed in the summer. I discovered this morning that overnight a mouse at three of the four flowers.

Another reblooming NoID mini.

Another NoID, but from my largest and most vigorous plant. Peter Lin believes it to be Phal. Fuller's Sunset, which makes sense because...

...pardon the color variations in the pics, but this IS Fuller's Sunset (also in bloom) and both the plant and flowers are identical to the above NoID. These are my two biggest plants.

nice! really like the gradations on the Phal little emperor and the form of Phal world class.

I'm finally on the Phal train. Got myself two new noids on clearance.

Jeff, Phals are delightful plants! I have between 80 and 90, and each one is wonderful!

GREAT Blooms! I especially love the unique color of the Little Emperor - so soft and summery! A few of mine are sending out spikes so I am jealous you are getting some blooms in February! Are any of yours fragrant?

With all his great photos, jkofferdahl made me order a bunch of mini Phals from Hausermann's. It was back in January when it looked like they would be able to ship in a window of good weather. But, it didn't work. Now I have to wait! WAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!

When I was in Miami last October-November I bought a mini Phal at a supermarket, Phalaenopsis Jiabo's Pink Girl 'MP0668'. I can't find the photos but it shows Phalaenopsis equestris influence. Since then it's grown one complete new leaf and is beginning another. I have been giving it a lot of light under a 6500K CFL so the leaves have turned purplish, but last night I heard Alan Koch, speaking to our club, say that Phalaenopsis flower much better at lower light as opposed to higher light. I'm going to move it.

It's in sphagnum moss in a small thin plastic sleeve (with holes!) tucked into a clay pot without a drain hole. I left it because the moss is in excellent shape, I can see the roots and it dries out rapidly for me. I think I'll leave it in that until the moss begins to break down. I take the plastic sleeve out of the clay pot, soak it, let it drain then replace it.
