Laelia praestans

Bloomed about a week ago, but I've been too preoccupied to snap a photo. Figured I better do it now on my day off since I don't know how long the blooms last on this guy and this is this plant's first bloom.

Super easy, no fuss plant, if I do say so myself.

Also, so about the slightly washed-out look. I couldn't find my camera and my iPhone does not capture colors quite right.

Another bloom, four months later

My praestans is at it again! This time, the flower is much fuller and looks a bit more like it should. The First bloom, I suspect, was this plant's first. Enjoy :D

That's a beauty.
Is it an optical ilusion or the flower it's almost the size of the plant?

Nope, I dare say the flower is actually bigger than the plant!

Back in its grow area now, but here's a picture of the full plant.

But, from your posts, it seems the plant is still young.

Salixx 06-09-2017 05:44 PM

It is still young, but should be very near maturity if not already. This is a dwarf species, adults max out at around 5" (13cm) in height.

rbarata 06-09-2017 06:25 PM

So you'll always get flowers as big as the plant.:D

That's really a beauty.
