Hello from Southern France.

Hello,
Although I'm not an Orchid specialist, I came to this forum because my main target is introducing as many unusual exotic plants as I can in a large Z9B French garden.
I've buid some collections with Citrus, Cycadaceae, Aloe,
Bulbs from South Africa, Palm trees, ferns, cacti so that I can write acurate acclimatizing articles for my society : SFA (that stands for French Society for Acclimatizing plants).
8 years ago I decided adding epiphytes to a half shady sdubtropical area of my garden, amongst them some Orchids. The behavior of Orchids outside is poorly known in France because only rare places close to the Mediterranean are mild enough to grow them all year long.
I got some success with Laelia anceps and hybrids, Oncidium flexuosum, some Dendrobiums, Coelogyne crista and many miniatures Cymbidiums.
I hope learnig more with you.
Cheers.
Pierre

Nice garden you have.
Your climate is similar to mine, although in summer we have much drier weather and hotter, which is no surprise since you live near the sea. I live almost 100 kms away from it so...
I believe there are many orchids that could thrive in your garden. You just have to try.
