NoID pink cymbidium please help!
3 Attachment(s)
Hello and Happy Thanksgiving! A few years ago a friend found this beauty curbside on trash day and gave it to me. It's probably from a large commercial grower, considering the circumstances. The flowers have none of the dark spots or edging along the lip, like so many I've seen in my fruitless search. Do any of you cym growers out there recognize it?

I have NOIDea, but it is extremely beautiful. Lucky you! And, Welcome to the Orchid Board!
|
Lol! Thanks for the compliment and warm welcome. You can tell I'm a newbie because I posted the photos sideways...!
|
Ha ha! Most people post sideways photos from their phones, not just newbies!
|
Welcome to the board. It is a beauty, you have there.

Unfortunately, once a tag is lost, it is virtually impossible to identify a plant. Some will say it "looks like" but that is the same as saying one of your children "looks like" your neighbor's. Just enjoy it for the lovely plant it is. However, if you know there is an orchid nursery nearby and suspect that is the source, can you visit? Just do not say where you got your plant!!! :D
To start on the right road to orchid growing, do your best to see that there names on any plants you get in the future. It may not seem important now, but it will pay off as you get more addicted! This is a good plant for you to practice on. I noted that you live in the US. What part of the country? This will help in knowing how to grow your Cyms. Most California growers can grow outside all year, for instance. Those in the North and on the East coast where there is serious freezing, have to grow totally differently. Welcome to the wonderful world of orchid growing! |
Lucky plant, just when things were looking dire for it, it ended up with you. Congrats to you both. Sorry can't help with ID though.
