Dendrobium chrysopterum care questions

Have been looking at this... IOSPE says it's warm growing. Some things I've read online say it doesn't tolerate warm days, say over 90 F / 32C, and needs cool nights.

I know an Orchid Board member in SE Pennsylvania posted photos of the plant he said he grew outside during the summer and successfully flowered. It certainly gets above 90F occasionally during the summer in PA.

Does anybody here have any more experience with it? Thanks.

Charles Baker says:

Through out the year, days average 76-82F and nights average 54-58F, with a diurnal range of 18-27F.

Sounds like extreme coastal southern California or the Sunset and Richmond districts in San Francisco. Guess it's good they're sold out.

I think you're referring to me as the PA grower. Mine did bloom, but later in the summer it developed a spider mite infection which did it in despite all my efforts to clear it None of the plants around it were affected, so I think that our heat was probably a contributing factor.
