Masdevallia Maui Prince
Hi all,
This is Masdevallia Maui Prince. I received this one from Kalapana orchids as well. I didn't have long to wait for spikes and buds. Total of four flowers expected by the end of next week :D. There are some slight differences with M. Haneczka which I posted earlier, but I think both are very similar. Also, note that one of the flowers (the oldest) developed with short sepaline tails. All blooms are from the same plant, and I thought that was the weirdest thing ever. I think it's cute. Oh well. The parents are Masdevallia tonduzii x Masdevallia princeps. You can see the dominant parent right away. https://c3.staticflickr.com/6/5669/3...6de4fc01_c.jpgMasdevallia Maui Prince-03 by César, on Flickr https://c7.staticflickr.com/6/5827/3...3a571ecc_c.jpgMasdevallia Maui Prince-04 by César, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/6/5687/3...04d7c769_c.jpgMasdevallia Maui Prince-02 by César, on Flickr https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5512/3...124f2063_c.jpgMasdevallia Maui Prince-01 by César, on Flickr |

"You can see the dominant parent right away."
Ha ha ha, maybe YOU can! I don't know anything about these. |

Relative humidity, I don't know. The plants are sitting in trays that stay wettish, and the pots are clay and they are always moist. So humidity around the roots is 100%.
The plants are sitting under an airconditioner. So that sucks up all the humidity. I keep the AC on to get the night time temps down to 16C. Daytime temps are now around 20C or lower depending on how cool it is outside. When the sun hits them directly, I guess the leaves can go to 23C. The roots don't go above 20C. |

My AC doesn't run in the day time, only at night.
