Suggestions for Warm Growing Fragrant Dendrobiums?
Hi y'all,
I was wondering if y'all had any suggestions for a warm-growing, fragrant Dendrobium. I have an unobstructed East facing window with LED and fluorescent lights, so I can provide some pretty bright light and warm temperatures year round. |
The only one I have any experience with is D. anosmum. It requires a rest period to get it blooming, but the blooms are large, raspberry coloured and smell raspberryish, to me at least.
I would recommend Dendrobium auriculatum. It doesn't need a rest and it blooms throughout the year. I find the foliage attractive, too. J&L were featuring it as the orchid of the month in July when I was doing an order or I probably would have forever missed out on it.
I second the auriculatum. It blooms when under 6" / 15cm tall. I discover it blooming with my nose, rather than with my eyes, when I first enter my sunroom.
I'd recommend Den. Microchip, a Latouria hybrid. Small plant, easy to grow, nicely fragrant with long-lasting flowers and blooms several times a year.
