Vanda Fusarium
I think my Vanda tessellata has fusarium... I received it about 3 weeks ago, and since then it has been dropping green leaves from the bottom up, and one of its roots is starting to shrivel. I really do not want to lose this one.
My plan right now is to cut it until I don't see a purple ring, but I am afraid I might end up with a rootless stem. Does anyone have experience with treating this disease? |
I don't have experience treating fusarium (my experience with the disease has been mostly trashing infected plants). Hopefully some other members can offer some advice - but in the meanwhile I found this
Saving a Vanda Orchid from Fusarium rotPick An Orchid https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...edoduvniogKDBw (I haven't watched this video) and fusarium related topics on OB http://www.orchidboard.com/community...archid=2722669 Good luck! |
What you describe can also be caused by inadequate watering. Why do you think you have fusarium?
|
The combination of browning root and dropping green leaves. I read those are the symptoms of fusarium.
I cut a small piece of the root that is browning, and i did not see a purple ring. Hopefully that is a good sign... |
I think the purple ring is in the stem, not in the roots. I would really like to see a Vanda with confirmed fusarium side-by-side with one with drought damage.
