Another tiny and weird one that i love... this one belongs to a genus of mat forming pleurothallids that have a diverse range in central and south america. They've always been pretty easy to grow for me handling heat not too badly and blooming on and off throughout year. What i recently learned is they flower and grow much better when they get more light, maybe between phal and cattleya light... This species is from brazil, grown in one of my grow tanks with LED lighting.

Most have greenish bug like flowers, but found this great form with a slight purplish/pink flush.

Second picture is for size perspective.

Wonderful!! I have a Barbosella, but not a mat forming one. WHere did you find this one?

JL orchids, love their stuff... hope they continue to do business...

Oh I have a cogniauxiana and really love it. Mine has less pink in its blooms, maybe more light? It struggled for some time after I got it, thought it was going to die but it pulled through thankfully. I got mine from J & L a couple of years ago. It was very small.

I also have a Barbosella dussenii and I like it better. They are similar though the dussenii leaves are smaller and mine is more mat forming than the cogniauxiana. I really like the tiny mat forming growth plants.

There is an orchid show here this weekend and J&L are going to be there, I've GOT to go! I've never been to an orchid show so I'm a bit excited.

Yeah I have dussenii as well, just got it from them actually... love it so far... now that I figured things out with my tanks, I'm more confident in getting more things like these...

Someone else on here a while back said they were growing some barbosella among other things in a enclosed bowl or jar with no airflow and low light... but my barbosellas did much better with more air flow and bright light... these things really grow fast when they're happy!

I'm excited for you and the show! Take pics and share!

So cute. I think the mat forming ones are so cute even though I don't have any. Now that I have my new grow area that I can keep up the humidity I may look into getting some one day. They will have to like it colder however.

u bada, I've been meaning to post pictures and just haven't gotten around to it. I wanted to share this awesome little Barbosella trilobata I picked up at the show. It's from J&L and really different. There isn't much information available online though Cordelia is a wealth of knowledge, it likes to be kept shady, humid and not allowed to dry out. Here is a picture for you

oooooh ahhhhh... beautiful... you'll have to keep me posted how it does for you... did you have a chance to chat with her on the future of their business?!!

There's the big AOS show this weekend and I already have preordered for some some things including burbles orbicularis... do you have that one per chance?

Pattywack 10-19-2016 08:54 PM

burbles orbicularis is on my list, not found one yet it's really unusual. Hope you get a nice one. I couldn't resist the trilobata along with several others. I had help.

I did chat with Cordelia a bit, seems they almost had it sold a week earlier and it fell through. I would hate to see them close. She was awesome to talk with and it was like having my personal orchid consultant.

Enjoy the AOS show, don't buy them out!

I love both of them!

I have a little bulbo from J&L that forms a mat, Bulbophyllum biseriale. :)

I love J&L and feel the same. I hope they do not go out of business. They sell such wonderful treasures!
